Body Sculpting

Body sculpting or body contouring, can eliminate fat, shape areas of the body and tighten skin. Lipolysis is a nonsurgical option that uses cold, heat, lasers and other methods. Surgical options include tucks, lifts and liposuction. Surgery has more risks and longer recovery, but it usually provides more noticeable results.
Surgical procedure that aims to reshape an area of the body. It may involve procedures to:

  • Get rid of extra skin.
  • Eliminate excess fat.
  • Reshape or contour the area.

Body contouring does not usually help you lose weight. Instead, it helps shape the body and address specific areas where weight loss isn’t effective or after significant weight loss results in extra skin.

Liposuction

Liposuction surgery sculpts your body, eliminating unwanted pockets of exercise and diet-resistant fat from the buttocks, hips, love handles, saddlebags, thighs, calves, ankles, breasts (including male breasts), back, arms and neck. Liposuction is often combined with other procedures to create a desired shape and is one of the safest and most popular cosmetic procedures.

Types of Liposuction

There are just a few different liposuction techniques. But what they all have in common is the use of a thin tube, called a cannula, connected to a vacuum to suction the fat from your body.

Tumescent liposuction is the most common technique. Your surgeon injects a sterile solution into the area where the fat is to be removed. It consists of saline — which is salt water – along with lidocaine and epinephrine. The solution makes it easier to suction the fat with less blood loss and pain.

Ultrasound-assisted liposuction, or UAL, uses sound wave energy under your skin to rupture the cell walls of the fat. This liquefies the fat so it can be suctioned out.

Laser-assisted liposuction, or SmartLipo, uses a laser to produce a burst of energy to liquefy the fat.

VASER

VASER is an acronym for vibration amplification of sound energy at resonance. This ultrasound technology uses powerful waves to disrupt the bonds between fat cells.
VASER liposuction is considered a more controlled and gentle kind of cosmetic procedure, and it requires a skilled and experienced provider to do it right.
You may be a candidate for liposuction if you’re a healthy person who doesn’t smoke or have a history of bleeding conditions.
Liposuction isn’t considered a weight loss tool. People who have the best results with VASER liposuction, or any type of liposuction, are already within 15 pounds of their ideal weight. This procedure is for people who are trying to spot-treat fat deposits and reveal muscle tone underneath.

Cool Sculpting

Cool Sculpting, or cryolipolysis, is a cosmetic treatment to remove areas of body fat. It works by freezing the fat cells from specific parts of the body.Similarly to liposuction, plastic surgeons and other therapists use
CoolSculpting to target areas of the body where it is more difficult to remove fat by diet and exercise.

CoolSculpting is noninvasive, meaning it does not involve surgery, cuts, or anesthetic, so it carries less risk than liposuction. The procedure is mostly safe, but people should be aware of some potential side effects.
